The Euskadi Mobility and Logistics Cluster presented this Friday the new projects they are developing, including air taxis and connecting roads, with the aim of moving towards a “more sustainable, safe, clean and efficient” transport.
The Deputy Minister of Infrastructure and Transport, Luis Pedro Marco de la Peña; the Alava deputy for Road Infrastructures and Mobility, Blanca de la Peña; the Councilor for Mobility of Vitoria, Raimundo Ruiz de Escudero; and the vice president of the cluster, Eduardo Lasa, have inaugurated the XII Congreso ITS Euskadi, where these projects have been presented.
All of them have highlighted the “disruptive” moment that the sector is going through towards a new mobility more “sustainable, safe, clean and efficient”, and have talked about new uses, energy sources and connectivity benefits in transport.
The three institutions have also committed to public-private collaboration to favor the transition of the territory towards this new mobility and make it easier for companies to implement their innovations. In fact, 12 new innovative proposals have been submitted in this area.
Among them, the Diputación de Bizkaia and Tecnalia have shown the project “Bizkaia Connected Corridor” to implement a test laboratory in 57 kilometers of the AP-8 motorway, which will support applied research and technological development. This technology will be integrated into the management of the infrastructure, and will provide a practical daily service of information in real time to drivers who have vehicles adapted for it.
Regarding vehicles, Irizar e-Mobility has presented its solutions for the fleet management in the cloud, autonomous driving assistance and its battery and recharging systems.
In the field of individual mobility, two proposals have been presented. On the one hand, Zenialabs has shown its “e-Trikes” (electric tricycles), aimed at the private user, and also for new business models around micromobility and last-mile delivery.
Tecnalia and Umiles have brought the aerotaxi, whose objective is to join the future of passenger transport. The air taxi has the capacity to transport a person on 15-minute flights, with a range of up to 15 kilometers. The prototype consists of an aerodynamic cockpit powered by four drones that allow it to move.
