EH Bildu and ERC present joint amendments and request “facts” from the Government of Sánchez

Arnaldo Otegi affirms that both the sovereignist coalition and the republican party have “absolute will not to block”, but he considers that “the ball is now in the roof of the PSOE Government and United We Can”, from which they request “constructive facts.”

In the “final stretch” of the negotiation of the General State Budgets (PGE), the general coordinator of EH Bildu, Arnaldo Otegi, has asked “facts” to the Spanish Government if it wishes to receive the support of the coalition and ERC, since both political forces will present joint and common amendments to the draft budgets.

Otegi has appeared in San Sebastián together with the spokesperson in Congress, Mertxe Aizpurua, and simultaneously with ERC in Barcelona, in which he has underlined his “absolute will not to block”, but warning that now “The ball is now on the roof of the PSOE Government and United We Can“.

The coordinator of EH Bildu has stressed that a government “cannot stand alone on the impression that its alternative is worse, we already know that.” In his opinion, “what this government has to do is point out with facts that it is on the left and that it does things differently.”

Otegi has defended the “open, constructive, purposeful position” that both his coalition and ERC have shown, because “we don’t like blockade policies.”

Along these lines, he insisted that they have “the will that the journey ends satisfactorily with the approval of the budgets, but that is not in our hands or in ERC’s (…) This government needs to prove with constructive facts what he says with words, “he remarked.

Two political agreements under negotiation

For its part, Mertxe Aizpurua He explained that both formations are negotiating “two political agreements”, one on “social and economic measures” and with “territorial measures”. In this regard, the leader has assured that these are “sensible, feasible” proposals that seek “to improve the living conditions of Basques and Catalans”, which are “ambitious but possible and achievable” measures.

The sovereign deputy has stressed that the coalition has “every will” to bring these negotiations to a “successful conclusion”. However, it has warned that the Government “will have to earn” the votes of both parliamentary forces, since their support “does not and will not involve a blank check.”

As he has denounced, “the Spanish Government has not done its homework and at the moment it is not up to what we expect.” However, he stressed that “there is still time” to reach agreements.
