Claro and Entel were the operating companies with the most lines gained, while Movistar, Bitel and Flash maintained negative net results.
During January 2023, a total of 453,639 mobile lines changed their operating company, according to the Supervisory Agency for Private Investment in Telecommunications (Osiptel). This represents 1.29% less compared to the same month last year.
In detail, Claro obtained the highest positive net balance and gained 147,617 net mobile lines ported in January. They are followed by Entel with 11,790 and Suma Móvil with 14.
For his part, Movistar It was the operating company that had the highest negative net balance in the first month of the year and reported 126,906 casualties, while Bitel (-79,556), Flash (-785) and Guinea Mobile (-258) also registered losses.
Portability during January
According to the Punku computer tool, portability in the postpaid segment was 68.64% of the total, while 31.36% corresponded to prepaid lines. Thus, in the first, 311,356 portations were completed, which represented an increase of 2.93% compared to January 2022.
However, the prepaid segment showed a decline of 9.43% compared to the same month last year, totaling 142,283 portations in January.
“Number portability is one of the most dynamic and competitive mechanisms in the telecommunications sector. Monthly, the operating companies renew their offers and offer better features to retain and attract new users, who decide whether or not to change companies, according to their needs and interests”, indicated Rafael Muente Schwarz, executive president of Osiptel.
It should be noted that 10,420 fixed lines changed operators, so fixed portability grew 679.36% compared to the same month of the previous year; and 184.93% in relation to December 2022.
Among the companies with the highest positive net balance are Optical Networks (8,941), Claro (509) and Netline Perú (254). At the other extreme were Infoductos y Telecommunications (-7,984) and Movistar (-1,787).
