Indecopi provides recommendations to consumers so that they avoid having bad experiences when buying products for Valentine’s Day.

In a recent report, the entity informed which are the sectors in which the most complaints have been filed at this time. These are trade (82), transport (48) and tourism (8). As for the transport sector, complaints related to the suitability of the contracted services, collections, sending and receiving parcels, rescheduled or canceled trips without consent, among others, were reported. Finally, in the sector tourismproblems arose in the reserves of lodgingtravel packages and tours.
Recommendations to avoid scams in online purchases
- Always choose formal providers. Check the experience of other users on social networks and check if they have been previously penalized by the indecopi through the portal Look Who You Buy (https://enlinea.indecopi.gob.pe/miraaquienlecompras/#/inicio).
- Verify that the website is secure. In the URL bar should appear “https” and a padlock.
- When making transactions that require entering passwords, avoid doing so from shared computers. In this way, you will protect your personal data and your card information.
- Remember that every provider of products and services must comply with what it offers.
- If the provider suspends its services (concert, tourist service, dinner, trip, among others), changes the contracted conditions or fails to comply with what is offered, You have the right to a reprogramming or a refund of what you paid.
- It is important that you keep your proof of payment or any document issued by the establishment, as these will serve as support in the event that you must file a complaint, claim or complaint.
