The interannual CPI rose to 5% in the Basque Country and 5.6% in Navarra, in October

Behind this rise in prices are the rising cost of electricity and fuel. In monthly terms, prices increased 1.7% in October in the Basque Autonomous Community and 1.8% in Navarra.

The Consumer Price Index (CPI) has rebounded in the Basque Autonomous Community (BAC) to 5% in October compared to October last year. In Navarra, the rise in the interannual CPI has been greater, up to 5.6%. Behind this rise in prices are the rising cost of electricity and fuel (gasoline and diesel).

According to the data published this Friday by the National Institute of Statistics (INE), prices have risen by 1.7% in the CAV in October compared to September and 1.8% in Navarra.

In so far this year, inflation has risen 4.9% in the BAC and 4.7% in Navarra.

By territories, Álava has exceeded 5% and has registered an interannual rate of 5.3%, while in Gipuzkoa the increase has been 5% and in Bizkaia 4.9%.

Regarding the monthly variation, in Álava it was 2%, in Bizkaia it was 1.8% and in Gipuzkoa it was 1.6%.

So far this year, the CPI has also increased in the three territories, to a greater extent in Álava and Gipuzkoa (5.2%) while in Bizkaia it has stood at 4.7%.

In Spain, the interannual CPI has risen to 5.4% in October, almost a point and a half above the rate registered in September, while the rise compared to September has been 1.8%. So far this year, the price increase has reached 3.1%. The interannual data for October is the highest since September 1992.
