The Minister of Economy and Finance, Pedro Azpiazubelieves that 2023 will be a key year in the development of European Next Generation funds and, therefore, advocates “reducing the bureaucratic burden of access to funds, of course with the necessary control, as well as the guarantees that are required companies to qualify for European funds”.
Azpiazu appeared this morning at the Basque Parliament’s Economy, Finance and Budget Committee to give an account of the situation of European funds. To date, 1,571 million euros have been allocated to the Basque Autonomous Community (CAV), of which 1,025 million will be managed by the Basque Government and the rest (546 million) directly by the State. The assigned amount has increased since the previous appearance, in October of last year.

By departments from the Basque Government, they are Economic Development, Sustainability and Environment (254.71 million); Territorial Planning, Housing and Transportation (247.56 million), Education (138.17 million), Equality, Justice and Social Policies (137.08 million), and Work and Employment (79.76 million) are those that have been assigned a higher volume of funds. Together they account for more than 85% of the total.
