The flow of gas with France drops due to the stoppage at the Irun compression station

As of Friday, and until the repair work is completed, the interconnection capacity through the VIP Pirineos will be 195 gigawatt hours per day, which means a capacity restriction.

The Euskadour compression station, considered key infrastructure for sending natural gas to France through the bidirectional interconnection of Irún (Gipuzkoa), is not available, reported this Thursday Enagás Technical System Manager (GTS).

The Euskadour compression station is one of the two existing interconnections with France, together with the one in Larrauin Navarra, which continues to operate with absolute normality.

For this reason, Enagás GTS clarifies, at all times the gas supply has been maintained at all the programmed demand.

According to the latest Enagás GTS operating note, from this Friday, and until the repair work is completed, the interconnection capacity through the VIP Pirineos -in both directions of flow- will be 195 gigawatt hours (GWh) per day, which implies a restriction of the nominal capacity.

The situation is due to the fact that this Wednesday, February 8, there was a fire in the transformers electrical systems that feed the motor-compressors of the installation.
