The Ministry of Transport, Mobility and the Urban Agenda has put out for public consultation the privatization project for seven new air traffic control towers, including the one in Bilbao, in addition to the twelve that already operate under this regime.

The Ministry has enabled a period of 20 days for the agents involved to present allegations and comments on the text.

As confirmed by sources from the Ministry on Wednesday, the process is being opened at the request of the airport manager, Aena, which understands that allowing private initiative to enter will improve the competitiveness of the sector and will allow prices to be lowered.

The CCOO and USCA unions called a five-day strike at the beginning of this month, for Mondays in February, due to the failure of the negotiations of the collective agreement in the already privatized towers with the APCTA employers, formed by the companies FerroNATS and Saerco.
