Various economists expressed their condolences for the unfortunate loss of the renowned sociologist.
The sociologist and professor of political science at the Pontifical Catholic University of Peru Francisco Durand Arp Nissen passed away this Wednesday, February 1, as he was able to learn The Republic.
Durand is recognized for being a great researcher and having published books and articles in magazines in various countries on business and political issues. In addition, he was an advisor to the Confederation of Amazonian Nationalities of Peru and to the Economic and Financial Crime Commission of the Congress of the Republic.
Various economists lamented the loss of Durand and, through their social networks, expressed their heartfelt condolences, one of them was the professor and researcher at the Pontifical Catholic University of PeruJosé Távara, who showed his sadness at the terrible news.
“Very sad for the departure of Paco Durand, one of the most brilliant researchers of our beloved Peru. An irreparable loss, I hope that the new generations take over,” wrote Távara, who is currently director of the Central Reserve Bank of Peru ( BCRP).
Adrian Falco, co-chair of the Latin American Network for Economic and Social Justice, also expressed his condolences for Twitter. He described Durand as a “great intellectual, a great person. He will be needed in Peru and in Latin America.”
