The strikes will last 24 hours and will take place on December 20, 21 and 22. The truckers’ committee assures that only a “radical change” by the Spanish government can put an end to the conflict.
The Department of Goods of the State Road Transport Committee has announced this Wednesday the call for three days of strike between December 20 and 22 to denounce that the Spanish Government “has abandoned” the sector.
The committee explained that, after several years of negotiation around the claim package, with issues such as the prohibition of drivers from loading and unloading trucks, the non-implementation of the Eurovignette, the mandatory application of the cost review clause of fuel and the construction of safe rest areas for professionals, “the patience of the sector has run out”.
To this is added “the absolute lack of sensitivity” on the part of its clients in the present economic situation, who “take advantage of the dominance position granted to them by the current regulation of the contract for the transport of goods by road, which is even causing a huge problem of lack of professional drivers, before the degrading and inhuman treatment in the conditions in which they carry out their work. “
The committee has indicated that, for all this, it is “forced” to convene a few days of cessation of activity, between 24:00 hours on December 19 and 24:00 hours on December 22, a conflict that only could avoid “a radical and urgent change” by the Spanish Government and clients.
