This is almost 30% more than in 2021 and the increase is mainly due to the increase in margins in a scenario of rising rates. The merger with Bankia, however, has weighed down the results by 40%.

CaixaBank has had a net profit of €3.145 billion in 2022, a 29.7% more than the previous year, reports the group this Friday in a statement.
The entity’s banking business —core revenues— has grown by 5.8%, mainly driven by a rise in interest rate spreads. Income and expenses from insurance contracts and bank commissions (1.7%) have also grown by 33%.
However, the entity directed by Jose Ignacio Goirigolzarri has seen its results diminished by the merger with Bankia: is down 39.8%.
The Board of Directors will propose to the Shareholders’ Meeting to pay a dividend of 0.2306 euros per share in April, which is 58% more than the previous year (0.1463) and represents 55% of net profit. This is the highest distribution paid among the large Spanish banks if the percentage of the result is taken into account.
