Congress: they seek to strengthen the arrival of Petroperú to lots of Talara

The bill provides that the state company carry out the exploration and exploitation of three deposits whose contracts are already about to expire.

The PL 4033/2022-CR seeks to provide the legal framework for Petroperú to explore and/or exploit the Talara lots whose contracts are about to expire.

In detail, the initiative presented by Francis Paredes (Bloque Magisterial) indicates that the state company must take the reins of lots VII-VI, Z-2B and X (see table).

Expiration of Talara lots.

In addition, the document authorizes that, with prior evaluation and through direct negotiation, Petroperú signs the contracts once the bidding for the operations in question has concluded.

And, after entering into the contract with Perupetro, it is empowered to convene and select its strategic partners, and carry out the necessary steps.

Let us remember that the Ministry of Energy and Mines (Minem) endorses that Petroperú reaches these lots in due time.

“We think that 100% (of the lots) should be for Petroperú, it is our government position. These production contracts are managed with services that they provide to all companies, so it is a very simple issue. You just resume the services and you continue. It is likely that there are some lots that require some investment for the Condition, that they are leaving them and partners are required, but that will already be part of the management of Petroperú,” Minister Oscar Vera told La República.
