Aid for energy self-consumption facilities come into force this Thursday

Until the end of 2023, more than 37 million euros will be managed. Together, these incentives are expected to contribute to the commissioning of more than 4,000 new renewable facilities.

The new aid to boost renewable production in the Basque Country will come into effect tomorrow, November 11, the Basque Energy Agency (EVE).

Until the end of 2023, more than 37 million euros will be managed to support the implementation of renewable self-consumption uses, storage and the installation of renewable sources to obtain heat.

Together, these incentives are expected to contribute to the commissioning of more than 4,000 new renewable facilities.

The promotion of residential self-consumption and public administrations will be reinforced with aid of up to 70%, and special support will be given to installations carried out in municipalities with less than 5,000 inhabitants.

The Basque Energy Strategy until 2030 foresees that this year will be reached with a final consumption of renewable energy of 21% of the total.

Within this promotion of renewables, the EVE highlights that self-consumption opens up a new perspective, since the consumer, who until now was a mere buyer of the energy offered by third parties, can now also be a producer of energy through renewable technologies .

Programs

To promote this self-consumption, interested persons will have six incentive programs to adhere to, which include aid for installation and storage.

Specifically, the programs 1 2 and 3, addressed to service sector and productive sectors, include both renewable self-consumption and the implementation of storage systems. They will be able to receive aid that varies from 15 to 50% depending on the power of the installation and the nature of the applicant.

Program number 4 will support self-consumption facilities and is aimed at both residential sector and public administrations, as well as the so-called third sector. They have grants that can reach up to 70% of the eligible cost depending on the sector and the type of self-consumption.

For its part, the program 5, aimed at these same sectors, will be used to incorporate storage systems in existing facilities that lack batteries. They can be endowed with an aid of up to 50% of the eligible cost.

Finally, the program 6 will be used to support new thermal renewable installations, including those that use solar thermal energy, biomass, geothermal and aerothermal energy (applicable in domestic hot water and heating). The grants will vary between 20% and 60% of the eligible cost, depending on the technologies.
