Tacna receives 8% more advance of mining canon

The Ministry of Economy and Finance (MEF) transferred the first mining canon advance to the Regional Government of Tacna and the provincial and district municipalities of Tacna, which amounts to 317 million 868 thousand 824 soles. The amount was 8% higher than the advance that Tacna received in January 2022 (294 million 17 thousand 320).

Public management specialist Robert Perca Chahua, recalled that in 2022, Tacna received a total canon of 840 million 677 thousand 621 soles, the highest canon amount in history. He maintained that they will have to wait until July for the second transfer and confirm if that historical figure is exceeded.

He also explained that the municipality that received the largest transfer in the Tacna province was the district of Gregorio Albarracin Lanchipa with 54 million 411 thousand 172 soles. After that commune, they continue on the list of the most millionaires, the district commune of ilabaya with 54 million 243 thousand 181 soles, the Provincial Municipality Jorge Basadre with 28 million 873 thousand 978 and the district Ite with 27 million 892 thousand 250.

The Regional Government of Tacna obtained 66 million 919 thousand 751 soles. Perca also highlighted the situation of Moquegua, which had a transfer of 183 million 925 thousand soles, an amount that represents only 1% more than what was received in 2022. The mining company Southern Peru has two mining seats in Tacna and Moquegua (touch it Y cuajone), from which it extracts copper.

He explained that Moquegua had production paralyzed in Cuajone due to social protests for more than a month in 2022, and that was reflected in his canon.
