The Bizkaia Provincial Council will charge tolls for trucks starting Wednesday on the BI-625 and N-240


The institution delayed for a few weeks the entry into force of the payment for use for the transport of goods on said roads, whose application should have started on January 1.

The new tolls for the transport of goods on the N-240 (Barazar) and BI-625 (between Basauri and Llodio) highways will be effective from January 25, as announced by the Provincial Council of Bizkaia on Monday.

The institution the entry into force was delayed by a few weeks of the payment for use for heavy transport on said highways, the application of which should have started on January 1, in order for carriers to become familiar with the new system.

On the road N-240 (Barazar) the 9 free flow arches placed between the junction of El Gallo (pk 55) and Ubidea (pk 23) will be activated, with rates ranging from 0.32 euros to 8.93 euros.

On the road BI-625 8 Free Flow arches will be activated from Llodio (pk 372,560) to Basauri (pk 387,310), with rates from 0.23 euros to 1.13 euros.

In both ways, it has been decided to establish a fee lower than the maximum allowed by Europe and it has been accompanied by discountsboth by frequency of use as for most vehicles efficient.

According to the Diputación, these discounts for use and efficiency are going to suppose an estimated economic impact of 5.6 million euros of annual savings for the transport sector and 633 applications from companies and individuals have already been approved to benefit from them, while there are another hundred applications in process.
