The metal unions of Bizkaia and the FVEM employer will meet again this Monday, under the mediation of the Basque Governmentto try to bring positions closer and unblock the conflict that is experienced in the sector by the agreement.
This Monday’s meeting, scheduled for 10:00 a.m., will be a continuation of the one held on the 16th, the first held by both parties after the mediation of the Executive of Gasteiz was accepted, which had been requested by the CCOO, UGT and LAB, after that in December the second vice-hendakari and Minister of Labor and Employment, Idoia Mendia, will make an express offer from her Department to mediate.
After this request for mediation, the FVEM announced its intention to accept that the Government mediate and ELA, although it chose to maintain the negotiation at the official table, announced that it would participate in the meetings that were called.
Therefore, after months of a conflict that affects around 50,000 workers in the territory and eleven days of strike, the negotiations continue, in this case, with the mediation of the Basque Government.
In the first meeting last Monday held under the mediation of the Basque Government, both the unions and the employers presented their proposals and content.
Interviewed in Euskadi Radio Last week, the general secretary of ELA, Mitxel Lakuntza, affirmed that “only through mobilization” will progress be made in the Bizkaia metal agreement and accused the FVEM employers of not showing “any interest in moving their position”.
For its part, the employers assure that they attend this meeting with a “negotiating will”, while the union centrals agree to call on the FVEM to “move” their proposal because “the ball is in their court”.
