The Supervisory Agency for Investment in Public Use Transport Infrastructure (Ositran) reported that around 36 million 300 thousand tons of load were mobilized through the ports concessioned nationwide between January and August of this year, which represented an increase of 18.6% compared to the same period of 2020.
The port of Callao was the one that concentrated the largest movement of total cargo through its three terminals: Multipurpose North Terminal (13 million 400 thousand MT), managed by the company APM Terminals SA; New Container Terminal-South Zone (11 million 300 thousand MT), operated by DP World SRL; and the Mineral Concentrates Shipment Terminal (2 million MT), operated by Transportadora Callao SA
For its part, the Matarani Port Terminal (Arequipa), operated by the company Terminal Internacional del Sur SA, mobilized 4 million 200 thousand MT; the Multipurpose Port Terminal of Salaverry (La Libertad), operated by Salaverry Terminal Internacional SA, 2 million 300 thousand MT; the Paita Port Terminal (Piura), operated by Terminales Portuarios Euroandinos Paita SA, 1 million 900 thousand MT; the General San Martín-Pisco Port Terminal (Ica), operated by Paracas Port Terminal SA, 1 million 300 thousand of TM; and the New Yurimaguas-Nueva Reforma Port Terminal (Loreto), operated by Concesionaria Puerto Amazonas SA, 12,475 MT.
Meanwhile, container traffic in concessioned port infrastructures reached 1,900,000 TEUs between January and August of this year, equivalent to an increase of 18.2% compared to the same period in 2020.
The largest container movement corresponded to the New Container Terminal-South Zone (1 million TEU), followed by the Multipurpose North Terminal (642,736 TEU), the Paita Port Terminal (192,453 TEU), the General San Martín-Pisco Port Terminal (10,417 TEU), the Matarani Port Terminal (8,670 TEU), the New Yurimaguas-Nueva Reforma Port Terminal (218 TEU ) and the Salaverry Multipurpose Port Terminal (22 TEU).
Likewise, in the analyzed period, the maritime traffic of ships in the ports under the Ositran scope reached a total of 2,646 units, 2.7% higher than that registered between January and August of last year. The reported figures do not include restocking.
