Fenadismer denounces the “brutal increase” of the new tolls that will come into force on Monday in Gipuzkoa

The National Federation of Transport Associations of Spain assures that, with the new regulation, some carriers will have to bear up to 1,500 euros per month to cross Gipuzkoa.

The National Federation of Transport Associations of Spain Fenadismer has denounced this Saturday that the new tolls for trucks that will work from Monday in Gipuzkoa mean a “brutal and disproportionate increase” of the amount for driving through this territory.

Gipuzkoa will begin to charge trucks that circulate through the N-1 and the A-15 through a new system that intends to comply with the law, after the two previous regulations approved were annulled by the Superior Court of Justice of the Basque Country.

Fenadismer has explained, in a statement, that the new system increases the number of kilometers affected by tolls, which they go from 20 to almost 80 (49 of the N-1 and 28 of the A-15).

The control will be carried out, this association specifies, through seven porticos and 108 banners of passage installed along the entire route.

Fenadismer assures that with the new standard, some carriers will have to bear up to 1500 euros per month to cross Gipuzkoa, which “in practice will force many small carriers to have to leave the activity due to the impossibility of assuming said confiscatory burden”.

The carriers consider that the new amounts (0.28 euros per kilometer for trucks with higher tonnage and 0.22 for those with lower tonnage) place the tolls in Gipuzkoa “among the highest in Europe”above countries such as Germany or Belgium, which have specific tolls for heavy vehicles.

Fenadismer rejects the “collection voracity” of the Provincial Council and maintains that the road transport sector contributes sufficiently, through taxes, to the maintenance of the territory’s communication routes.

Fenadismer has recalled that it continues waiting for the High Court of Justice of the Basque Country to rule on the appeal presented by this association against the toll regulation that comes into force on Monday.
