The CAV ends 2022 with an unemployment rate of 8.4%, one and a half points less than in 2021


In the last year, employed persons have increased by 17,100 and unemployed persons have decreased by 15,000. However, the unemployment rate has increased by half a point compared to the third quarter of 2022.

In it last yearthe unemployment rate has decreased by one and a half points from 9.9% in the fourth quarter of 2021 to 8.4% in the fourth quarter of 2022, according to data prepared by Eustat.

This figure is also lower than the 11.4% with which 2020 closed, the year marked by the restrictive measures to deal with the covid-19 pandemic and at the end of 2019, when it was 9.5%.

Likewise, employed persons have increased by 17,100 and unemployed persons have decreased by 15,000 in the last year.

Nevertheless, from the third to the fourth trimester the unemployment rate has risen half a point. In addition, there are 4,600 less employed people and 6,100 more unemployed people than the previous quarter.

The total number of unemployed people is estimated at 88,500 and the number of employed people stands at 962,600.

By territories, in Biscay Unemployed people have increased by 5,200, which has caused an increase in the unemployment rate of 0.9 percentage points, standing at 9.2%. In alava, which has 14,300 unemployed people, unemployment has risen by 1,100 people and the unemployment rate has grown by 0.6 percentage points, up to 9%. In Gipuzkoathe number of unemployed people has decreased by 200 and the unemployment rate remains at 6.9%.

As for the capitals, unemployment has increased in Bilbao in 3900 people and in Vitoria-Gasteiz in 1100; whereas in Saint Sebastian unemployment is maintained with respect to the previous quarter.
