MTPE asks companies to provide 2 hours of tolerance to workers for demonstration

Given the announcement of protest demonstrations for this Thursday, January 19, which would cause obstacles to free movement, the Ministry of Labor and Employment Promotion (MTPE) urged employers to give their workers flexibilities and, if applicable, prioritize the application of remote work.

Through a statement, the MTPE pointed out to companies that they must “prioritize remote work, in order to safeguard the integrity of workers.”

Likewise, in the event that employees must attend their work centers, they requested that grant a tolerance of two hours in the hours of entry to workers who are affected by the lack of public transport due to social protests.

“The delay time will be subject to subsequent compensation, prior agreement of the parties. In the absence of an agreement, the compensation is decided by the employer”, added the MTPE.

Finally, the Ministry of Labor stressed that, for no reason, said tolerance period should be considered as unjustified tardiness that is subject to disciplinary sanctions.
