President Dina Boluarte affirmed this Tuesday, January 17, that the National Police will unblock ways to guarantee the supply of gas and fuel in the regions, since shortages of these resources are being reported due to the protests, and in some areas of the country there are also the price goes up. For example, the Peruvian Hydrocarbons Society commented on local radio that the regions hardest hit by shortages would be Puno and Cusco.
“We must make a call to reflection to these gentlemen who, with good reason, are going out and are protesting peacefully, but blocking roads and not allowing these trucks that carry gas or fuel are already leaving the peaceful protest. We, through the Police, which is always at the service of the community (…) will be opening these roads so that these tankers with fuel and gas can arrive ”, said the president in a public activity carried out in an EsSalud establishment in Jesús María.
According to the Superintendence of Land Transportation of People, Cargo and Merchandise (Sutran), at noon this Tuesday, there are 94 blocked transit points that involve 8 regions of the country.
The head of state also reminded the protesters that the road blockade is outside the law and that it affects the rights of other citizens. In addition, she warned that protesters coerce other people to join the marches.
“We do not want to be blackmailing so that these minority gentlemen who want to break democracy and the rule of law can be playing with the tranquility of people who want to live in peace and want to work and produce those economies for their homes,” said Boluarte. .
