Peruvian exports to China totaled more than US$ 19,000 million until November

From January to November 2022, Peruvian exports to China totaled US$ 19,070,457,000. Although the amount represents a slight contraction of 0.7% compared to 2021, it is expected to continue promoting national activity within the framework of the agreements with the Asian giant.

It is worth noting that Peru has a Free Trade Agreement (FTA) with China since 2010, and in this sense, the president of Adex, Julio Pérez, assured that “there is an excellent bilateral relationship that has been strengthened over time.”

Therefore, they hope to encourage investment, in a year where private investment is expected to grow just 1%.

“Non-traditional shipments have tripled in recent years and that translates into more decent employment for Peruvians. In this sense, we encourage the completion of the negotiations for the optimization of the FTA and we positively view China’s request to be included in the Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership (CPTPP)”, he clarified.

And, the Chinese ambassador in Peru, Song Yang, pointed out that our country is key not only at the commercial level, but also because of the investments of more than 200 Chinese companies at the national level, which total close to US$ 30,000 million.

“We hope to continue this trend and not only venture into mining or hydrocarbons, but into other areas such as manufacturing or services,” he said.

On the other hand, Chinese imports totaled US$14,541 million, leaving a surplus of US$4,528 million.
