Massification of natural gas in 7 regions resumes

The Ministry of Energy and Mines (Minem) announced that it is promoting the project seven regionswhose objective is the massification of natural gas in seven provinces of Peru.

“We are working on the reactivation of the so-called Seven Regions project, which will favor the departments of Puno, Cusco, Apurímac, Ayacucho, Junín, Huancavelica and Ucayali. To do this, we are going to contribute, this year, around S/800 million, which will allow us to reach 114,000 families,” said Óscar Vera Gargurevich, head of the Minemduring the conference of the Council of Ministers.

Southern gas pipeline

In addition, the construction of the Gasoducto del Sur was reported, which seeks to supply gas to the southern regions of Peru, as well as allow investments for the petrochemical industry and the construction of a fertilizer plant. Vera said that an investment of S/4,000 million will be required for its development. Likewise, she also recalled that the Kepashiato plant (La Convención, Cusco) was reactivated to supply LPG to the area.

Finally, he reported on the construction of more than 1,000 km of distribution networks in Lima, Ica, Piura, Áncash, La Libertad, Lambayeque, Cajamarca, Arequipa, Tacna and Moquegua. These pipelines will benefit 100 thousand families through the program BonoGaswhich will imply an investment of S/491 million.

In this line, the increase in the value of the LPG Discount Voucher was also approved in the province of La Convención (Cusco), so that citizens have a discount of S/43 on the purchase of a gas cylinder. While in the districts of Megantoni and Kumpirushiato, from this month, the discount will be S/63.
