The Government and the productive sector installed this Tuesday, in Quito, during a business meeting, the first of nine productive tables that will work in order to consolidate a strategic collaboration between public and private actors to resolve situations around productive and trade activities national or international.
This first table corresponds to Agencies of control and competitiveness, the same one that will look for the mechanisms so that the products of entrepreneurs reach the market faster. In the same way, the tables on productive security, digitization, procedures (to eliminate red tape), agribusiness, labor issues, among other topics, will be installed gradually, explained the Minister of Production, Foreign Trade, Investments and Fisheries, Julio Jose Prado.

He added that this first stage of the Productive Roundtables, which is part of the Ecuador Compite strategy, will focus on solving competitiveness problems, with the purpose of companies taking better advantage of local and international markets and responding to the needs across the productive sectors, said Prado.
The Government indicated that its strategy is for this process to be carried out in a permanent and institutionalized manner, its duration and periodicity will depend on the issues being dealt with. In addition, the methodology that the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) implemented in other countries is taken as a reference.
The President of the Republic, Guillermo Lasso, recalled that the strategy of technical tables strengthened the meeting spaces between the regime and various sectors in 2022 by ensuring that “they have worked and the commitments are being fulfilled.”
“These dialogues will allow the country to meet the needs and meet the objectives of the struggle of the social sectors (…),” added the president.
While the Minister of Government, Francisco Jiménez, affirmed that the regime will never give up a methodical dialogue that generates results. “Today we are launching the Productive Tables, which will have the development of nine work tables, which seek to consolidate a strategic collaboration between the public and private sectors to solve productive problems in an agile manner. The mechanism is a coordinated and efficient dialogue”.
For his part, the president of the Ecuadorian Business Committee, Miguel Ángel González, indicated that his sector is aware of the importance of generating more jobs in the country, so these roundtables “are an opportunity to work together – between the public and private-, in order to solve problems that do not allow there to be more productive activity”. In addition, he assured that the sector seeks to contribute so that the productive industry can better compete in foreign markets. (YO)
