During his speech before the Plenary of the Congress of the Republic, the President of the Council of Ministers, Alberto Otárola, informed that, in the next 18 months, the MTC will execute 625 infrastructure investment projects, for which it will allocate an investment of S/ 8,000 million.
In his speech, the Prime Minister explained that the sector is promoting the expansion of the Jorge Chávez International Airport, with an investment of US$ 1,500 million, and the construction of the Chinchero International Airport, in Cusco.
Regarding the latter, Minister Lazarte specified that, this year, the main construction works will begin, since the designs for the runway, taxiway, aircraft apron, passenger terminal and tower design have been approved. of control.
On the other hand, the minister added that, for Arequipa, support to the regional government has been programmed for the continuation of the Cabrerías-Patahuasi asphalt work for an amount of S/ 165 million, as well as the financing of the components of the Highway La Joya, in particular for the tunnel.
In addition, more than S/140 million will be invested in Puno for the improvement and conservation of 193 kilometers of departmental roads. MTC: progress at other airports
MTC reported that terminal, parking lot and perimeter fence rehabilitation works will also be carried out, with an investment of S/ 141 million, at the airports of Andahuaylas, Cusco, Huánuco, Ilo, Jaén, Jauja, Atalaya, Chimbote, Caballococha, Rioja, Yurimaguas and Juanjui.
Similarly, Minister Lazarte reported that the sector will promote the construction and renovation of 859 smaller permanent bridges, in rural areas, with an investment of S/ 485 million, which will be executed through local governments.
To improve the insertion of our country into the information and knowledge society, the MTC will ensure fixed Internet access in 9 regions, starting the operations of Digital Access Centers and creating Public Digital Access Spaces.
Likewise, the operation of the regional broadband projects will begin in the regions of Ica, Junín, Puno, Amazonas, Huánuco, Pasco, Áncash, La Libertad and San Martín to bring connectivity to more mainly rural locations.
