The activity carried out at the Bilbao Exhibition Center (BEC) during 2022 generated a economic impact in the GDP of the Basque Autonomous Community of 135.3 million euros, according to the report of this body referring to the past year and released this Wednesday.
During 2022 they were held at the BEC a total of 232 eventswhich produced a tax collection for the Álava, Bizkaia and Gipuzkoa estates of €17.2 million and the creation of 2664 jobs.
These events were distributed among the categories of Fairsto which a total of 21 contests corresponded, in which 2138 exhibitors participated; conventionswith 181 events held, and Bizkaia Arena, which hosted 30 shows.
In total they registered 621 609 visitors and a space occupation of 297 days.
The report also states that 74% of the expense generated reverted to external activities to the fair activity itself, such as the hotel industry, which absorbed 48%; transportation, with 16%; recreational and cultural activities, with 8% and retail trade, with 2%.
