According to preliminary data published by Eurostat, the drop that began in November has become more pronounced in December with a decrease of nine tenths compared to the previous month.

The eurozone year-on-year inflation fell nine tenths in December, to stand at the 9.2%, according to preliminary data published today by the Community statistical office, Eurostat. In December the drop that began in November when inflation was 10.1% was accentuated.
By countries, Spain was the eurozone country with the lowest inflation (5.6%) taking into account the harmonized CPI rate that Eurostat uses to make data from euro area countries comparable. In Francefor his part, was 6.7%, four tenths lower than the previous month. Therefore, both countries continue to be below the euro area average.
The Energy repeated as the product category with the highest price increase compared to the same month of the previous year, although the increase of 25.7% observed in December is lower than the 34.9% of the previous month and the 42% seen in June, when it experienced the biggest rise.
Processed foods, alcohol and tobacco have become more expensive by 13.8% compared to the 13.6% registered in November.
The increase in the price of unprocessed food stood at 12.0% compared to 13.8% in the previous month.
