Osinergmin: southern regions do not have a sufficient supply of LPG

The Supervisory Agency for Investment in Energy and Mining (osinergmin) is carrying out supervision operations in bottling plants, distributors and premises for the sale of cylinders of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) in Arequipa, Moquegua and Tacna. This occurs with the aim of verifying compliance with prices and the stock maintained by each region.

Thus, the regulatory body reported that in Arequipa there is a strong demand and there are still long queues for the acquisition of LPG cylinders in the bottling plants of the companies Costagas Y you call. However, the situation is expected to improve with the arrival of 33 tankers loaded with LPG, equivalent to 759,000 gallons.

On the other hand, in tacna the only bottling plant in the area (Halkon) is registering users and sending the cylinder to their homes in order to avoid long queues. However, Osinergmin verified that the brands that come from bottling plants located in Arequipa are giving priority to meeting the demand for the product in that area and sending smaller than usual quantities to Tacna.

In this way, Lima Gas, Solgas and Newgas are only sending an average of 3,700 10-kg cylinders every other day, while Zeta Gas transports 600 10-kg cylinders daily.

In the case of moquegua the cylinders that are put up for sale are exhausted immediately due to the insufficient supply of the bottling plants from Arequipa to Moquegua.

In Cusco The representatives of the bottling plants reported that eight tankers loaded with LPG will arrive in the next few hours, which is equivalent to approximately 99,000 gallons.
