The trade union and political class of the Basque Country and the Spanish State have remembered and praised the career of Nicolás Redondo Urbieta, who died tonight at the age of 95.
The general secretary of UGT Euskadi, Raul Arza, has highlighted the figure of Redondo, who he has said was “a benchmark in the fight for democratic values” and one of the great names of the unionism of the Transition, together with Marcelino Camacho. According to what he recounted in an interview with Radio Euskadi’s “Boulevard” program, at 95 years old, Redondo was still “very aware” of current affairs of the working class in the Basque Country and called him frequently to chat.
