The Secretary of State for Employment, Joaquín Pérez Rey, has considered that asking a person applying for a job to stay in their underwear is an “absolutely intolerable practice that violates the dignity of people.”

“The recruitment mechanisms for employment cannot reach such a serious invasion of privacy and dignity,” Pérez Rey said at the strike press conference, after being asked about the case of the recruitment company Meccti, who required flight attendant candidates for Kuwait Airways to wear their underwear.

Pérez Rey explained that the Labor Inspectorate has opened an ex officio investigation as a result of a video published on social networks by one of the women who had attended the selection process.

According to the Ministry of Labor, there is no record that any of those affected have denounced through formal channels.

The Inspectorate also assesses whether the facts could constitute a crime in order to, in that case, bring them to the attention of the Prosecutor’s Office.
