Urtaran will only accept a provisional TAV station in Vitoria while the underground works last

The Ministry of Transport proposes that, until the underground works are completed, the provisional stop of the TAV is the current train station.

The mayor of Vitoria-Gasteiz, Gorka Urtaran, has highlighted the “clear commitment” that the Minister of Transport, Mobility and Urban Agenda, Raquel Sánchez, has made for the burial of the High Speed Train (TAV) in the capital of Alava and has shown his “satisfaction” for it.

The person in charge of the Ministry of Transport, Mobility and Urban Agenda has met this morning in Vitoria-Gasteiz with the Minister of Territorial Planning, Housing and Transport, Iñaki Arriola, where she has indicated that a “workaround” until the end of the underground integration of the TAV in the capital of Alava. This alternative would consist of arrival of the TAV at the current train station on the surface.

“We are satisfied because the minister has made a clear commitment to the burial. Now it is time to address it. It is necessary to go to the facts and take concrete steps that confirm and materialize that commitment,” said Urtaran in a statement.

However, he has warned that “there is no provisionality”. “We will only accept that, while the burial works last, there will have to be an alternative, a halt, on the surface. All the institutions have to work hand in hand to achieve once and for all the burial of the railway as it passes through our city, “he concluded.

For his part, the deputy general of Álava, Ramiro Gonzalez, has stated that he has “no type of doubt” that the entrance of the TAV to Vitoria-Gasteiz will be buried. In addition, it has indicated that the minister’s commitment is in “the same line of the thesis” that she has “been maintaining in the Provincial Council of Álava”.
