Urkullu has transferred to the minister his “displeasure” at how the preparation of the addendum has been managed, since, he says, the “hope” that this document would “truly” become an “opportunity for real co-governance has been seen seriously broken.”

The Lehendakari, Iñigo Urkullu, has formally asked the First Vice President of the Government of Spain, Nadia Calviño, for a “technical” meeting between the central and Basque governments to agree on the addendum or complementary text to the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan that must be forwarded to Brussels before the end of the year.

It is expected that this document, among other things, includes the reforms and investments that are going to be financed with the loans of the Next Generation EU mechanism that correspond to Spain, as well as the definitive allocation of transfers and other additional ones of the project of regulation of REPowerEU.

In response to a previous letter from Calviño, Urkullu sent the vice president a letter last Tuesday, which became known today, in which he conveyed his “displeasure” at how the preparation of the addendum has been managed, since, he says , the “hope” that this document would “truly” become an “opportunity for real co-governance has been seriously dashed.”

In the Lehendakari’s opinion, this addendum represents a “true window of opportunity to include a new form of management of the MRR funds, which entails a more agile way of implanting them in the productive fabric of the State”.

“We could not accept that our indebtedness is conditioned to decisions that are not ours and, less, in our own areas of competence,” he stresses.
