Government has granted more than 7,400 green bonds to acquire eco-friendly homes

Between January and November 2022, 7,427 Mivivienda Verde Bonds have been granted, a subsidy granted by the Ministry of Housing, Construction and Sanitation (MVCS) to people who buy a sustainable property through the New Mivivienda Credit. For this, a disbursement of S/39 million 316,000 was made. This figure is 8.2% higher than the 6,863 bonds that were delivered in the same period last year.

This financial aid, which is aimed at middle-income people with a good credit history, ranges between S/16,200 and S/31,100, depending on the price of the apartment that is purchased. With these resources, a greater amount of the initial fee can be paid.

Eco-friendly homes, which have the characteristic that they favor savings, both in water consumption -due to having taps and special toilets- and in energy consumption, due to the use of LED lighting, cause less impact on the environment.

These housing units are part of the projects certified as sustainable by the MiVivienda Fund, an entity attached to the MVCS that is also in charge of granting this subsidy. It should be noted that In the month of November, 713 green bonds were delivered, for which a disbursement of S/3 million 850,000 was made.

How to access the bonus?

To obtain this benefit, the following requirements must be met: be of legal age; be qualified as a subject of credit by the financial entity through which the loan will be granted to acquire the house or apartment; not be the owner of another residence at the national level; not have any credit pending payment with the FMV; and not having received housing support from the State.

Besides, a minimum contribution of 7.5% of the value of the building must be made for the down payment. There are currently more than 36,000 sustainable buildings in 12 regions of the country that can be accessed with the support of the green bond.
