In 3 years, DP World Posorja reached one million TEUs mobilized and entered the top 10 on the continent

With only three years of operation, since August 2019, when it came into operation, the DP World Posorja deepwater port managed to enter the top 10 of the rankingupon reaching one million TEUs mobilized, as one of the most efficient port terminals in this part of the continent, according to a report recently prepared by the World Bank.

This was reported this Friday, December 9, by the port terminal through a statement.

The first phase of the ZEDE Posorja began operations with a 3,000-square-meter warehouse

“Thanks to our safe and modern port infrastructure and our deep maritime access channel, -16 meters and 21 nautical miles, Guayaquil has managed, in a short time, to receive ships pospanamax, at its maximum capacity, every week. Guayaquil and Ecuador already compete at the regional level as an important hub logistics, connecting it directly with the main markets of the world: northern Europe, the Far East, the Mediterranean, the Caribbean, Central America and the west coast of South America”, said Carlos Merino, CEO of DP World Ecuador.

The port, which last October broke a new record by mobilizing 49,106 TEU, has QC cranes, according to the firm, the largest and most modern in the country.

In addition, that month, the terminal received the Expor 2022 Port Excellence Award, awarded by the Ecuadorian Federation of Exporters (Fedexpor). And in November the initial phase of the first Special Economic Development Zone (ZEDE), logistics and industrial began to function.

“The DP World group will continue to work hard to consolidate itself as a key player for Ecuadorian foreign trade, turning it into a new pole of development in the region, providing value-added and efficient services for the sector,” the firm reported.
