Staff from the Osakidetza Basque Center for Transfusions and Human Tissues demonstrated this Saturday in Bilbao, summoned by the Satse, ELA, LAB, UGT, CCOO and Utese unions, to denounce the “salary discrimination” suffered byreason for which they will carry out four days of strike next week between Tuesday 20 and Friday 23 December.
The demonstration began at noon from the headquarters of the Department of Health in the Biscayan capital and has ended up to the Plaza Circular.
As reported by ELA, “the representatives of the staff they tried to talk to counselor Gotzone Sagarduionce again, on December 7, but the approach was useless, since the Department and Osakidetza made it clear that they do not want to correct this situation of injustice.”
The union has regretted that the collective of the Basque Center for Transfusions and Human Tissues “works under inferior conditions to those of the rest of the templates in the sector” and, therefore, they demand that they be equated.
In this sense, he explained that the staff is “fully integrated into the Usansolo-Galdakao hospital and throughout the Osakidetza network and supplies blood and tissue to the entire Basque Autonomous Community”.
“Thanks to their work, all hospitals, health professionals from other centers and patients have blood to transfuse, tissues to implant and blood products with which to treat pathologies”, he stressed.
For ELA, “the only way to resolve the conflict is negotiation“and, for this reason, it has once again summoned the Department of Health, Osakidetza and the management of the Center for Transfusions and Human Tissues to “take steps in that direction”.
