Property tax will rise on average 6% in 2022, announced CCL

According to the Lima Chamber of Commerce (CCL), in the year 2022, the property tax Metropolitan Lima will have an average increase of 6% in relation to the tax paid in 2021.

According to the manager of the Legal Center of the CCL, Victor Zavala, this will occur “as a result of the new values ​​of the buildings and the new tariff values ​​of the land approved by the Ministry of Housing, Construction and Sanitation”, which were published in the official newspaper El Peruano on the last 30 October.

The tax may be paid in cash until February 28 of next year or in installments up to four quarterly installments.

It should be noted that the official values ​​of the buildings of the properties will have an increase of 5.30% on average, to this will have to be added the new tariff values ​​of land that will be published by each of the municipalities.

Zavala explained that the property tax is an annual tax paid by natural and legal persons who own land, houses, apartments, buildings and constructions in general; in favor of the district municipalities where the properties are located and the progressive rate of the tax is applied to the total value of the properties that belong to the same person within each district.

Meanwhile, the CCL mentions that pensioners who own a single property, in their own name or that of the conjugal society, as well as the elderly person, even when they are not a pensioner, have the right to pay property tax only for the excess of 50 UIT, which is estimated for the year 2022 an equivalent to S / 4,600.
