Paola Lazarte Castillo is the new owner of Ministry of Transport and Communications (MTC) after President Dina Boluarte swore her in last Tuesday, December 13. Lazarte comes in to replace Richard Tineo Quispeone of the ministers who resigned after the coup attempt carried out by Pedro Castillo.
Lazarte Castillo He is 40 years old and is an economist from the Pontifical Catholic University of Peru (PUCP).. As part of her academic training, she has an international diploma in Management of Public-Private Partnerships from Universidad del Pacífico and was part of an executive program in Public Finance Management from Harvard University.
According to his resume, Lazarte Castillo is an expert in investment and infrastructure management in the Transportation sector. She has worked as an advisor to the executive presidency of the Urban Transport Authority (ATU) since 2021 and also works as a professor of the Economics specialty at PUCP.
He also has previous experience in the same Ministry of Transport and Communicationswhere she worked as an adviser to the Moqueguano vice minister Carlos Estremadoyro, between 2018 and 2020, during the government of Martín Vizcarra.
Later, Lazarte held the position of general director of the Office of Articulation, Monitoring and Impact Evaluation of the MTC, from August 2020 to February 2021.
Regarding his political activity, In the last 2022 Municipal Elections, she was invited by Somos Perú to run for the position of councilor for the Miraflores district on a board led by the candidate Ernesto Mendoza de la Puente, as it appears in the registry of the National Election Jury (JNE). However, he does not militate or belong to said party.

During the afternoon of Tuesday, the new minister swore to carry out her position “without committing acts of corruption”, as urged by President Boluarte when entrusting her with the Transport and Communications portfolio.
