MTPE: employment in the private formal sector grew 10.6% in September 2022

In September 2022, employment in the private formal sector in Peru registered 18 consecutive months of positive progress, reaching 4 million 63,000 salaried jobs, a figure that exceeds the level of formal employment registered before the COVID pandemic. -19, according to data released by the Ministry of Labor and Employment Promotion (MTPE), according to the Electronic Payroll (PLAME and T-Registro).

This result represented a growth of 10.6%, the highest observed since April 2022. This figure translates into an absolute increase of 388,000 formal jobs in the private sector compared to the result of September of the previous year and an increase of 310,000 jobs compared to September 2019.

According to the Monthly Report on Formal Private Employment No. 51 of the MTPE, in September 2022, the highest employment growth rates in the private formal sector occurred in teaching activities (23.8%), with an increase absolute increase of 44,000 jobs, and restaurants and hotels (23.5%), which presented an absolute increase of 31,000 jobs, compared to the same month of the previous year.

This was followed by business services activities (17.3%), with 116,000 new jobs; as well as transport (13.1%) and commerce (8.2%), with an increase of 38,000 and 49,000 jobs, respectively.

MTPE: wages improved

The average remuneration in the formal private sector in September 2022 was S/ 2,548 per month, a figure that is above what was achieved in the same month of the previous year (S/ 2,451), which meant a growth of 4%. .

When distinguishing by sex, in the case of women, the remuneration received by the workers was S/ 2,220, a figure that registered an increase of 4%; while in men it was S/ 2,728 with a growth of 4.4%.

By type of employment, 225,000 workers were registered in teleworking and/or remote work in the Electronic Payroll, the result of a decrease of 9.1% in relation to September 2021. Workers under this modality represented 5.5% of the total number of workers in the formal private sector.

In total, 5,603,000 jobs were registered in the formal sector in the month of September 2022. Thus, the favorable results of employment in the private and public formal sector were reflected in a growth of 8.3% of formal jobs, in relation to what was registered in September 2021 (5 million 172,000).
