Entrepreneurs from different unions have expressed their rejection of the coup led by Pedro Castillo this Wednesday, December 7, 2022. The National Society of Industries, Confiep, United Mypes of Peru, Gamarra Peru Business Association, among others, They agree that Castillo’s acts violate the legality and constitutional order of the country.
They also regretted that these events increase the political, legal and economic instability that the country is going through, which affects not only businessmen, but all citizens.
“It is evident that this action responds to not being able to answer the questions about acts of corruption and moral incapacity in this year and a half of government. This self-coup threatens the institutionality of the country, the democratic order and the freedoms of people and public and private institutions, ”Confiep specified in her statement.
It should be noted that Castillo’s announcement of the closure of Congress was made a few hours after his vacancy was debated and voted for the third time in the Legislature, for which it was not certain if there were enough votes.
“We ask Peruvians, entrepreneurs and millions of workers to join the great task of rebuilding the countrybecause this crisis will pass and we must continue fighting for the future of our families,” said Mypes Unidas del Perú.
The businessmen called for calm, but also for the other State Powers and the Armed Forces to defend democracy and institutions within the legal framework and respecting social peace.
