The consumption of Peruvians in the food, fashion and department store categories would reach S/ 1,200 million during the Christmas campaign this year, estimates the Niubiz Data analysis center.
The unit estimates that this scope will be mainly motivated by the behavior of the food item, which only during the week before Christmas would reach a consumption of S/ 710 million. “During the week before Christmas, this category tends to have a growth of 130% versus the previous four weeks,” the center mentions.
Likewise, it projects that the consumption of the fashion category would reach S/ 288 million in the same period; while, that of the department store category would reach S/ 186 million.
Spikes of purchases and concentration
According to the Niubiz Data report, the peak days of consumption in the three sectors would be December 23 and 24, which would reflect that the consumer tends to wait for last-minute discounts.
The report adds that purchases in the Food category will possibly go to pre-Christmas and Christmas dinners; and they would be concentrated in Lima and Callao, with 81%. The focus of the fashion category, whose 75% of its consumption would take place in the capital, would be the purchase of clothing for the Christmas celebrations.
Finally, purchases in the department store category would be for gifts and household appliances. 85% of the consumption of this item would also be concentrated in Lima and Callao.
