The capital of Ecuador celebrates 488 years of foundation this December 6. It also commemorates the 200 years of the Battle of Pichincha. This year, as the foundation date is Tuesday, The day off for those who reside in the Ecuadorian capital will be Monday, December 5, 2022. A mandatory rest day (only in Quito) that joins the weekend.
The Fiestas de Quito have various activities. The Municipality of Quito has developed an agenda that begins on November 25 and ends on December 6. This celebration is known for its different and joyful parades in honor of the city. In addition to parades, the schedule of activities also includes concerts, fairs, and dances that the people of Quito can enjoy.
The Quitumbe Unity Parade 2022 will be held on December 2 at 10:00 a.m. on Avenida Cóndor Ñan and Avenida Quitumbe Ñan. This activity will have the participation of 20 educational units of the sector and is organized by the Quitumbe Zonal Administration.
This is the parade schedule for the Quito 2022 festivities:
December 2
- Parade of greeting to Quito: presentation of music and dance, from Amazonas and Gaspar de Villaroel avenues, starting at 09:00.
- Quitumbe Unity Parade 2022: parade with 20 educational units of the sector, from Condor Ñan and Quitumbe Ñan avenues, starting at 10:00.
December 3
- Great parade of La Mariscal: parade with peace bands, batoneras, floats and Quito masquerades; from 6:00 p.m. the Amazonas avenue will be traveled, between Colón and Patria.
December 5th
- Twenty-second festival of bands and bastoneras Viva Quito 2022: presentation of peace bands and bastonera groups from educational institutions, in Plaza Belmonte, starting at 10:00. (YO)
