In the middle of the debate on the suitability of wind farms, the general director of the Basque Energy Entity (EVE) has stressed that these projects are necessary to take steps towards decarbonisation. The Basque Energy Agency turns 40 this Thursday and coinciding with this anniversary, Iñigo Ansola has been interviewed on the “Faktoria” program of Euskadi Irratia.
Iñigo Ansola foresees that wind farms that society aixeindar (formed by the Basque Energy Entity and Iberdrola) plans to build in Azazeta and Labraza are operational by 2025. As he has said, these projects will get environmental impact permits in the short term. “The objective is that they begin to materialize in 2024, and once they begin to be executed they will be carried out in 6-7 months,” she pointed out.
According to the industry decarbonization, has insisted on the need to phase out fossil fuels little by little and has considered that hydrogen can play an important role in this process. According to Ansola, the decarbonization process will be long, “there are alternatives and we have to work on it.”
Asked about the Egypt COP27 agreement, Ansola believes that there has been a lack of ambition. In his opinion, in the preview there are always high expectations, but then reality puts each summit in its place.
