The Basque economy slows down and grows by 0.2% compared to the previous three months


Year-on-year growth stands at 3.9%. For its part, employment grew again, by 0.3%. However, current economic information points to a slowdown in activity in the main sectors of the Basque economy.

The growth of the Basque economy slowed down in the third quarter this year growing up in year-on-year terms 3.9%but only the 0.2% compared to the previous three months.

The Basque Statistics Institute-Eustat has released the progress of the quarterly accounts of the autonomous community this past summer and will expand on December 2.

The short-term economic information available at the time of preparation of this preview points to a year-over-year slowdown of activity in the main sectors of the Euskadi economy.

The jobmeasured as full-time equivalent jobs, has risen 0.3% compared to the previous quarter. This is the ninth consecutive quarter with quarter-on-quarter growth in employment.

In relation to the same quarter of the previous year, for its part, the recovery in the number of jobs is estimated at 2.0%, according to Eustat data.

On December 2, Eustat will publish the disaggregated estimates of GDP and employment in its Quarterly Accounts for the third quarter of 2022, after incorporating the conjunctural information not available at the time of preparation of this preview.
