One of the biggest problems facing micro and small businesses (mypes) of the textile and clothing sector is the low productivity of their workshops. According to recent studies, the item reaches 42%, so, according to Kelly Johnson, commercial manager of the Rab Import Group, a smart digital revolution will allow entrepreneurs to overcome this low indicator, which would translate into higher income for them.
“The low productivity responds to the fact that our country has not opted for technology transfer, for this reason, in Gamarrawhich is the mecca of the textile industry in Peru and the region, we businessmen are working to reverse this situation,” said Kelly Johnson, also the spokeswoman for the Expo Rab fair that will take place on Wednesday, October 12, and in which they will participate 10,000 mypes in the sector.
This will be a day in which the entrepreneurs of Gamarra and from various parts of the country will be able to see 250 machines with the latest technology for textile production, with modern cutting systems, automated laying, parts and accessories, all under the logic of smart digital technology, Johnson highlighted.
Participating entrepreneurs will be able to access seminars on fashion, virtual commerce, as well as a raffle for 40 machines, valued at US$22,000.
During the Rab Expo, the latest in design and fashion will also be presented. That will be in charge of 20 young designers, who will exhibit their creations in order to set trends. A jury will choose the best three, who will receive prizes, such as a complete industrial workshop made up of a straight machine, an overlock machine and a cover machine, among others.
“During the pandemic, many people who lost their jobs opted to invest their liquidations, CTS or AFP in acquiring a textile machine and starting their own business.now what follows is that they improve their processes to maximize their profits, ”explained Kelly Johnson.
It should be noted that, according to official information, in Peru, textile machinery moves an average of US$200 million a year, 95.5% of this amount is due to products imported mainly from China, Spain, Brazil, among other countries. .
