‘Scoop’ would be the name of the film that will tell the story of the BBC interview with Prince Andrew

The story about how the BBC channel obtained the interview of the Prince Andrew in which he talked about his relationship with Jeffrey Epstein is going to be made into a movie titled scoop (Exclusive) and that could be starring Hugh grant, as reported by the media Deadline.

The entertainment publication cites the screenwriter as sources Peter Moffat (Your Honor) and the producer Hillary Salmon, of The Lighthouse Film & Television, who said they hope to start shooting the film in November and that they have not yet chosen a director or started making a casting.

Moffat noted that the film’s content will delve into how the BBC got the scoop on the 2019 interview with England’s Andrew, which triggered his withdrawal from public life; the behind-the-scenes work to record it, and the question of why Elizabeth II’s son agreed to be questioned.

scoop will be based on “Scoops: Behind the Scenes of the BBC’s Most Shocking Interview” (Exclusives: Behind the scenes of the BBC’s most shocking interview), a book about the interview with Andrés by Sam McAlister, one of the ex-producers of the Newsnight show, who was on the team that got her.

In the lengthy interview with the BBC, the prince showed little sympathy for the victims of Epstein’s abuse, going so far as to suggest that their friendship was beneficial to his business contacts and denied knowing any of Epstein’s victims. Virginia Giuffre, the woman who accused him of sexual abuse when she was a minor.

The interview turned public opinion against the third son of the British monarch and generated such media pressure that in just over a week he had to announce his withdrawal from public life, the first episode of a fall from grace that would continue with his indictment in the US for sexual abuse.

Giuffre maintains that she met the prince as one of the victims of the sex trafficking plot allegedly organized by Epstein – who committed suicide shortly after being arrested in July 2019 – and his right-hand man, Ghislaine Maxwell, recently convicted of providing her with minors to abuse.

The case was dismissed this past March, after both parties reached a final out-of-court settlement in which several British media reported that the prince paid Giuffre some 12 million pounds sterling (15.7 million dollars). (YO)
