The National Institute of Statistics and Censuses (INEC) finished this Wednesday, July 27, 2022, the last pilot of the population and housing census that will be carried out in 2022. In Guayaquil, the field work was carried out in Mapasingue Oeste and Ceibos Norte to test the protocols: the issue of security at a site, with coordination with the public force; and on the other the problem of whether they want to open the door, to improve communication with the neighborhood.

“We finished the operation today, we went back to the desk and fine-tuned processes. And from here comes the census in October”, indicated the director of the INEC, Roberto Castillo.
It is that in October the option to carry out the census online will be enabled and to promote it, meetings are held with the public and private sectors that can contribute so that time is saved using technology.
With the Ministry of Education, we are working so that students – as a duty – take the census online. Thus, the INEC will enter the classrooms to explain how to fill out the form. Another strategy is with the private sector, with large companies, through their Human Talent areas, to encourage their personnel to be registered in a on-line.
In September it is planned to start disseminating the mechanism to answer the census ballot online. The census on-line it is optional and from November 7 to December 18, 2022 it will be carried out in person, the pollsters will tour the country.

It will be the eighth Population Census and the seventh Housing Census, which this time includes questions related to pets, practices related to the environment and recycling.
