Government increased the minimum wage to S / 1,025 from May 1

The Government made official the increase in minimum wage from S/ 930 to S/ 1,025for workers subject to the labor regime of private activity, as anticipated by the Minister of Labor and Employment Promotion (MTPE), Betssy Chavezat the end of March, before the Presidency of the Council of Ministers (PCM).

The measure was published this Sunday, April 3, in the newspaper El Peruano. This way, the remuneration rises after four years and does so at S/ 95. The increase will be effective as of May 1, 2022; according to the stipulated norm.

In an interview with La República, the minister Betssy Chavez revealed that the proposal began to take shape on February 22, after the delivery of the RMV report for quarter 2021 by the INEIdespite the fact that the announcement of an increase in the RMV was made in January of this year.

In this line, the official justified that among the factors that were taken into account for this increase were found: the GDP growth rate, an open unemployment rate, a labor informality rate and a ratio between the RMV and average remuneration.

It should be remembered that the Minister of Economy and Finance, Oscar Grahamalso, commented that the measure should be taken into account in the face of the increase in product prices, which has been affecting lower-income citizens.
